The "Wachauwerk" by the two "zwoa Buaba" – as they are affectionately called by their fan community in Vorarlberg – is a tribute to the unique cultural landscape of the Wachau, which has held UNESCO World Heritage status since 2000. Every wine lover should experience this region at least once.
Back to the wine: The "Wachauwerk" displays aromas of citrus fruits, apple, and pear, accompanied by white flowers. The mineral nuances, the unfiltered, slightly cloudy appearance, the crisp acidity, and the taut structure represent the characterful style of Grabenwerkstatt. An entry-level wine that is sophisticated, authentic, and promising, leaving you wanting more.
Since 2021, Grabenwerkstatt has no longer been a member of the Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus; therefore, the traditional designations Federspiel and Smaragd no longer appear on the labels. For the two winemakers, the focus today is on the origin – the vineyard site – while classification based on must weight (potential alcohol) is becoming increasingly less relevant due to climatic changes.
The 2021 vintage is considered one of the best of the last decade in the Wachau.
