Catena Zapata - Argentino 2021

An exceptional wine made from 100% Malbec grapes grown at an altitude of 950m. The intense scent of blueberries, blackberries, dark chocolate, and roasted aromas is beguiling and profound. The velvety tannins are an experience in themselves, and were it not for the alcohol, one might think they were drinking grape juice, so juicy is the way the wine glides through the mouth. The "Argentino" is defined by intense, ripe fruit aromas and a muscular, dense body. The finish is long, like a sunrise on a cattle ranch, and one could easily imagine it paired with a bloody steak right off the grill. The label, by the way, is a real eye-catcher and tells the story of how Malbec came across the pond to Argentina, the story of phylloxera, and its recultivation by the Catena Zapata family.
