For decades, Lupicaia from Castello del Terriccio has been one of the most significant Super Tuscans on the Italian coast. An iconic red wine that masterfully combines power, elegance, and Mediterranean terroir. The nose reveals black currants, blackberries, dried herbs, tobacco, and a hint of graphite – typical of the estate’s barren, mineral-rich soils. On the palate, the Lupicaia is structured, deep, and silky, yet enormously powerful, carried by precise tannins and an impressive length.
The wine is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and—depending on the vintage—a little Petit Verdot, which matures in French barriques. The result is a wine that delights when young while also possessing an outstanding aging potential of over 15 years.
Castello del Terriccio is located north of Bolgheri on a sprawling estate with biodynamic approaches and a maritime microclimate. Sustainable cultivation and hand-selection ensure a quality that makes Lupicaia one of the greatest wine icons of the Maremma.
