NeueHeimat – Sauvignon Blanc Ried Sernau 2020

The Ried Sernau is integrated into the calcareous South Styrian hilly landscape and definitely has the potential to produce mineral-driven wines. NeueHeimat is dedicated and intensively engaged in making the terroir palpable in the wine. In addition to varietal-typical aromas, there is a mineral-saline component that, paired with the acidity, presents itself very vividly. However, what we find fascinating about the wines from NeueHeimat is this naked, unadorned quality, thanks to low-sulfur vinification and natural farming practices. Everything is still within reason and just not quite in the often dogmatic natural wine genre.
