JCP Maltus - Le Dôme St. Emilion Grand Cru 2012

Le Dôme is something of a realized dream for former "garage winemaker" Jonathan Maltus. The investments were immense, but as the saying goes, one doesn't talk about money. Star architect Norman Foster was hired for the winery. The vineyard plots surrounding this architectural eye-catcher border on Chateau Angelus, putting them in the best of company within the St. Emilion Grand Cru appellation. The wine is more heavily influenced by Cabernet Franc than Merlot, demonstrating that they have their finger on the pulse and have already addressed the challenges of climate change. The wine exudes aromas of ripe violet berry fruit and attractive floral and vegetative notes. Blueberry, lavender, lilac, cedar wood, etc. fill the nose. On the palate, silky tannins, a rather graceful body with finesse and elegant poise. World-class!
