Siro Pacenti's Vecchie Vigne comes from a single vineyard near the estate in the north of Montalcino. Around 40-year-old Sangiovese vines, the slightly higher altitude, cool nights, and typical Galestro soils define this characterful yet immensely precise Brunello di Montalcino.
The nose takes us on a walk through the forest: dark berries, cherry, undergrowth, and wild Mediterranean herbs, accompanied by fine earthy and spicy notes. On the palate, the Vecchie Vigne is powerful, but by no means broad. Fine-grained tannins give the wine a taut, linear structure; the fruit remains juicy and is supported by vibrant acidity.
A Brunello with depth and power, but above all with precision, tension, and length. A modern style of Montalcino, where structure and origin—not opulence—have the final say.
