The Spätburgunder Seehalde is considered the most significant red wine site of the Seehaldenhof estate. The warm, steeply sloping parcels of the Seehalde capture plenty of sun, while the nearby Lake Constance ensures cool nights – an ideal interplay for precise, elegant, and profound Pinot Noirs. The chalky and stony soils lend the wine additional tension and a fine, salty minerality.
Simon Hornstein works with the greatest care in the vineyard: low yields, selective hand-harvesting, and sensitive viticulture create grapes of exceptional quality. In the cellar, he relies on a Burgundian-inspired vinification: gentle processing, open fermentation, and a precise, restrained use of oak that provides structure without dominating.
In the glass, the Spätburgunder Seehalde presents itself with fragrant aromas of red berries, cherry, undergrowth, and fine spicy notes. On the palate, it reveals a cool, elegant style, juicy acidity, fine-grained tannins, and remarkable length. The balance between power and finesse makes it one of the most exciting Pinot Noirs from Lake Constance.
