NeueHeimat – Pinot Ried Sernau 2020

The Ried Sernau is integrated into the calcareous South Styrian hilly landscape and definitely has the potential to produce mineral wines. NeueHeimat strives and is intensely focused on making the vineyard site tasteable in the wine. Alongside the varietal aromas, there is a mineral-saline component that, paired with the acidity, presents itself very vividly. However, what we find fascinating about the wines from NeueHeimat is this naked, unadorned quality resulting from low-sulfur production and natural farming. Everything is still within reason and just not quite in the often dogmatic natural wine genre.
