Giuseppe Quintarelli - Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOP 2015

Giuseppe Quintarelli is considered the great master of Amarone, and his handwritten labels have achieved cult status. This is less about the unmistakable simplicity of the calligraphic design and more about the magnificent contents. The Quintarelli style has influenced generations of winemakers and continues to resonate even after his death in 2012. The winery is difficult for tourists to find and is located in the hills of Valpolicella. The family and heirs continue to manage it skillfully, more than living up to Giuseppe's ideology. The long maturation process is one of the most important factors in the winemaking. Consequently, the vintage of the current Amarone almost always dates back nearly 10 years. The cuvée consists of Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella. After harvest, the grapes are dried. This process is called "appassimento" and is responsible for the concentration of sugar, as well as all other components of the grape. It produces aromas like no other wine, reminiscent of raisins, figs, and dried fruits, which become even more complex and enriched through aging in wood.
