The Wachauwerk by the two "zwoa Buaba" – as they are affectionately called by their fan base in Vorarlberg – is a tribute to the unique cultural landscape of the Wachau, which has enjoyed UNESCO World Heritage status since the year 2000. Every wine lover should experience this region at least once.
Back to the wine: The Wachauwerk exhibits aromas of citrus fruits, apple, and pear, accompanied by white blossoms. The mineral nuances, the unfiltered, slightly cloudy appearance, the crisp acidity, and the taut structure represent the characterful style of Grabenwerkstatt. An entry-level wine that is sophisticated, authentic, and promisingly makes you want more.
Since 2021, Grabenwerkstatt has no longer been a member of the Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus; therefore, the traditional terms Federspiel and Smaragd no longer appear on the labels. For the two winemakers, the focus today is on the origin – the vineyard site – while classification based on must weight (potential alcohol) is increasingly losing importance due to climatic changes.
