The Morillon Obegg from the Trummer winery on the Obegg hails from the lime-rich basin site of Obegg in Southern Styria. The defining shell limestone gives it its taut structure, fine salinity, and a cool, almost Burgundian elegance.
On the nose, the Morillon is deliberately restrained and slightly reductive. The fruit remains in the background, while fine reductive notes, subtle secondary aromas, herbal spice, and mineral hints provide depth. On the palate, the Morillon Obegg is taut, fresh, and linear, slender in build, and driven with real focus. The vibrant acidity and chalky minerality lead into a long, salty finish.
Bottled unfiltered, this Chardonnay from Southern Styria presents itself as pure and unadulterated as possible. Its bare, slightly reductive character suits it exceptionally well – chic and elegant, until it is time to "strip down" again.
