Bideona - Cofrades 2021

The Cofrades is a single-vineyard wine from the Rioja Alavesa, planted in 1945. Old bush-trained vines, with the Sierra Toloño mountain range in the background, which provides cool winds overnight. Calcareous soils and the special feature of this vineyard: DNA analyses were carried out on every single vine and the result was incredible. Alongside the main grape variety, more than 30 grape varieties and natural clonal mutations were found. The wine is therefore actually a field blend. In terms of its flavor profile, the wine displays intense aromas of dark berries and black cherry, plenty of herbs and spices; it is complex, balanced, and youthful. The lively acidity makes the wine fresh and gives it potential for many years to come. Characterful and cool in style, this unique wine represents a new wave of Spanish wines that have captured our full attention and bring us a great deal of joy. By the way, there are only about 1,000 bottles of the Cofrades.
