Jean-Louis Chave - St. Joseph 2020

The domaine wines from the great master of the northern Rhône are considered the most puristic Syrahs and the clearest expressions of their terroir. The granite-rich soils in Tain-l'Hermitage (where the famous hill towers above) and in St. Joseph (on the side where the Jean-Louis Chave family has been cultivating vines since 1481) are predestined for Syrah, and when combined with the experience, expertise, and skill of Chave, the result is a unique magnificence. Cool finesse paired with fine tannins, muscular without being opulent, straightforward yet full of character, playful with rustic corners and yet polished edges. All this is united in the wines of J. L. Chave, making them so unique.
