Knewitz – Riesling 2023

Tobias Knewitz belongs to the generation currently dominating Rheinhessen and the world of Riesling. These winemakers are well-trained and well-connected. They have completed internships abroad and keep a close eye on the entire wine world. They know where they stand and what they want. Beyond the pursuit of top quality, it is primarily about varietal typicity rooted in origin. The soils around Appenheim are rich in limestone and predestined for great wines. The climate benefits from the cool influences of the northern latitudes. Even the entry-level Riesling (Gutswein) demonstrates the potential Knewitz possesses. Clear, delicate notes of peach. Zesty and linear on the palate, with a light phenolic grip that keeps the whole profile focused. Moderate in alcohol and light-footed. It doesn't always have to be a Großes Gewächs. The top wineries demonstrate their expertise even with their estate and village wines, and we are very grateful to them for these everyday wines.
