Spanning all these major units are the Quaternary deposits, which are significant for viticulture, namely fine-grained loess and coarse-grained terrace gravels. For slightly more than half of the vineyards, loess is the parent material for a deep, calcic-dolomitic soil in varying proportions.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"EN-GB\"\u003eWith nearly 14,000 hectares, the \u003cstrong\u003eWeinviertel\u003c\/strong\u003e is Austria’s largest wine-growing region and is effectively \"Veltliner country.\" In fact, 50% of its area is planted with Grüner Veltliner, yet there is still a wide variety and a range of styles. What links them all, however, are the peppery notes, which represent a kind of identity for the Weinviertel. The result is a large volume of racy and fruit-forward, but above all spicy, white wines with equally large differences in quality. Sometimes the Veltliners are reminiscent of a school field trip. Due to (excessively) cool fermentation and aromatic yeasts, the wines take on notes of apple-pear drops and glacier mint candies. We prefer to leave that taste experience to memories of our teenage years, which is why we focus more on the less aromatic, light, racy, and spicy Veltliners. Although, a \"Do you want to go out with me?
