His goal was to vinify great Piedmontese wines following the example of his mentor, Roberto Voerzio. Voerzio is considered by winemakers in Piedmont and wine professionals to be one of the best and also one of the craziest in the region. He became famous as a modernist and a \"Barolo Boy.\" This label was defined by the then-bold and highly criticized use of barriques, as well as modern fermentation techniques and radical yield reduction. In the case of Roberto Voerzio and Cesare Bussolo, as little as 1kg of grape material per vine is harvested through \"green harvesting.\" \u003c\/span\u003eCesare was naturally strongly influenced by this style and his mentor. Since 2025, Cesare's barrels have been housed in his own cellar, in the new winery, right next to Voerzio's. \u003cspan\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTraditional and modern methods have since merged, and as everywhere in the wine world, terroir has moved to the forefront. With the single vineyards \"Fossati\" and \"La Serra,\" Cesare possesses two of the best “Grand Crus” in La Morra. The number of bottles is very limited, with currently only around 2,000 bottles per Barolo.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe terroir in La Morra is calcareous and somewhat sandier than in the eastern part of the region. This is referred to as Tortonian, which dates back to the Miocene. As a result, the Barolos from La Morra are usually more floral and fruity, somewhat lighter in body and tannin, and thus more accessible than the wines from the eastern part of the area. Nevertheless, they offer the same tension and great potential for many years. Cesare's wines are complex, elegant, and intense.
